Virtual Festival

On November 16 winners of the 2001 Sun Awards For Achievements in the Internet Sphere contest became known. The contest was held through October and November by the initiative of Sun Microsystems, Kvazar- Micro, and First Tuesday Kyiv companies. It represented a festival of Ukrainian Internet projects and was aimed at stimulating the best developments in the Ukrainian sector of the World Wide Web, at searching for new investment attracting projects, and popularizing of the Internet and its resources among broad public. The contest was an open action and was accessible to all Ukrainian Internet users. Until the end of October contenders could apply for awards in fifteen nominations divided into three groups, general, subject, and special ones. All resources aimed on Ukrainian net users, including both those registered in the UA domain zone and Ukrainian language ones, had the right to participate, except for the sites of pornographic or erotic contents and resources whose contents violates Ukraine’s legislation in force. After the application period was finished, a people’s jury of all Ukrainian Internet users, who filled in the form for participation in the jury and were selected by the results of their answers to a questionnaire, choose the five best projects in each nomination. An expert jury selected the winners among the nominees.
