New Tobacco Factory Opens in Kyiv 

The Reemstma-Ukraine Company has opened its second tobacco factory in Ukraine (see photo). It was built instead of an unfinished reinforced concrete constructions plant in a Kyiv suburb. The company has invested DM 50 million in its first such factory (in Cherkasy) and DM 70 million in its second. Reemstma-Ukraine is planing to launch investment projects in Ukraine totaling DM 55 million in 1999. The new tobacco factory will produce 8 billion cigarettes annually, and they plan to raise output to 30 billion a year, according to Infobank. The cigarettes made here will be sold both in Ukraine and in other CIS countries.
