Crimea in the format of exhibition space
Landscapes and still lifes, inspired by landscapes of the South coast, are presented at the Center of Contemporary Art “M17” until June 21Triumph of the Crimean bright color, fresh air, and the smell of roses can be felt today in Kyiv, even with no need to go on a vacation. In order to get the aesthetic pleasure from the southern landscapes, you should visit the remarkable exhibition of painting “Crimean Mood” that takes place in the halls of the Center of Contemporary Art “M17.” The large space of this art center absorbed the whole range of fine, sunny summer – still lifes and landscapes are featured here, as well as abstract paintings that combine loud symphony of the blue skies and warm sea.
Interestingly, the artists work in a variety of styles and genres – impressionism, modernism, expressionism, and realism. Therefore, the audience has a great chance to see the Crimea through the eyes of different authors and once again see for themselves that everyone perceives the same thing differently. In fact, that’s why it is interesting to compare some of the art works and decide for yourself how you see the Crimea. The most precious impressions to me are the memories of the childhood years in a pioneer camp on the sea coast or diving with mask, memories of finding mollusks on the shore or suddenly spotted almond branch in bloom.
Thus, Roses Near the Sea by Pavlo Shumov, Seascape by Vasyl Chedhodar, Old Bakhchisarai by Nuri Yakubov will once again bring you back to the most secret and pleasant memories of the holidays spent in the region.
It should be also mentioned that the Crimean school of art is a special and, probably, not quite yet fully studied by the specialist, sophisticated and bright, outstanding phenomenon of Ukrainian culture. In fact, for everyone, who loves painting it would be extremely interesting to see the art works of Oleksandr Shadrin, Yurii Konovalov, Oleksii Potapenko, Oleksandr Smirnov, Volodymyr Shvab, Andrii Ambursky, and Renat Ramazanov presented together in one exhibition hall.
Somewhat plain-air style of some paintings only facilitates the sense of the emotional and frivolous, true southern life filled with joy. After seeing the mosaic Sea by Olena Bubentsova, the viewer has a chance to involve his imagination and continue a series of his own associations that are evoked by this abstract composition. Impressionistic Holiday by Oleksandr Shadrin urges the most romantic viewers to take a long journey over the edge of the world.
The exhibition “Crimean Mood” has been organized jointly by the Center of Contemporary Art “M17” and the art gallery “Rarytet-Art.” Works by Ukrainian masters of painting can be viewed until June 21 (102-104 Horkoho [Antonovycha] Street).
