Bukovyna artists help the Ukrainian army
An auction aiming to raise funds for the soldiers serving in the anti-terrorist operation area was held at the Art Museum in Chernivtsi. Bukovyna artists donated their works to allow volunteers to use the proceeds of the sale to purchase warm clothes, footwear, and food for the soldiers. As many as 38 artists from Chernivtsi branch of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine presented their works at the exhibition sale. The lots, over 50 in total, included paintings and carvings. The first two lots raised almost 30,000 hryvnias. The most expensive lot included works by well-known local artist Maryna Rybachuk, as a painting of hers sold for 8,000 hryvnias.
“Prices of artworks ranged from 100 hryvnias to 400 dollars,” volunteer Olha Kobevko told the press. “We need to join forces with Bukovyna volunteers. For example, we can sew pea jackets and provide transportation. The latter will probably be the top priority. In addition, we plan to buy warm clothes and sleeping bags.”
