Ours among the ten best athletes

Ukrainian sportsmen won six medals: two golden, three silver, and one bron­ze at the European Athletics Cham­pionships, recently finished in Barcelona, reports the press-service of the National Olympic Committee. The highest honor was taken by Olha Solodukha in the triple jump, and the female relay race team in the 4x100 m race, consisting of Olesia Povkh, Natalia Pohrebniak, Maria Remen, and Yelyzaveta Bryzhina. The last one also won a silver medal in the 200 m distance. Maksym Mazuryk in pole-vault, and Natalia Dobrynska in heptathlon also reached silver. Stanislav Melnykov finished the third in the 400 m race with hurdles. A number of our athletes stopped short of the pedestal, taking 4th and 5th places. In summary, at the European Champion­ships Ukrainians took the 7th team place. The president of the National Olympic Committee, the first vice-president of the International Association of Athletics Federations Serhii Bubka congratulated the new champions and prizewinners, the coaches, and the management of the Athletics Federation on the gained prizes and expressed hopes for new achievements.
