Slight Thaw
Ukrainian connoisseurs of light entertaining music are anticipating a pleasant event. The De Phazz, a German pop group is coming to visit Kyiv again. Last winter, the last time these charming ladies and gentlemen from the banks of the Rhine came here, the weather was also rather warm. The group then performed its latest record, “Death by Chocolate.”
The new concert again is again timed to the release of a new album, “Daily Lama.” It has already won the hearts of music critics. Moreover, it rose to the top positions in music charts. However, music is only half the entertainment. Concerts become a lively phenomena, featuring dance, special-effects lighting, and a thoroughly thought-out video show. Everybody who attended the last year’s concert remembers how well De Phazz combined music with video.
It seems that the German musicians and their Kyiv audience have common tastes. De Phazz also liked Kyiv itself. They called it “a city with a warm, extremely friendly and positive atmosphere, with beautiful people in the streets who often smile. The pace of life is unhurried.”
In order to perform in Kyiv, the group has postponed a number of concerts in Europe and even an interview for a renowned music television channel. The musicians promise that, among other things, there will be some surprises at their show in Kyiv. But so far, detailed information is strictly classified.
The only trouble is that the founding father and informal leader of De Phazz, Pete Baumgartner will not be able to come. His valid reason: a new arrival in the family. However, Pete stressed, “I was eager to see Kyiv. My colleagues told me so much about it, and in fact I was going [to go with them]. But, I just cannot abandon my wife at this important time for us both. I will come to Kyiv together with my offspring, though a little bit later.”
Meanwhile, the show is to take place at the International Center of Culture and Arts, formerly the October Palace. The date is the same as last year, February 19. Those who come to see it will not complain about a wasted time. It is no accident that every time De Phazz comes to Kyiv, winter takes a break.
