The decisions of the Pechersk Court

Yurii Lutsenko remains in custody
24 May, 00:00

Yesterday brought good news and bad news. The good one is that Yurii Lutsenko announced that he stopped his hunger strike: “I think it is unwise to go on with the strike. I started it to prove that Ukraine has no Prosecutor’s Office. This court session has proved that we have no just courts whatsoever, but I need my health in order to break the system down.”

The bad one is that the court represented by Judge Vovk ruled that Lutsenko should be retaken in custody. The next court session will take place on May 27. The court refused to grant the motion of Lutsenko’s lawyers to change the preventive punishment for him; it also refused to grant his petition for jury trial because there is no special law in Ukrai-nian legislation.
