Monument to Danylo Bratkovsky to be erected in Lutsk

Executive committee of the city council resolved to have the monument erected. Lutsk already honors Bratkovsky with a memorial plaque on the wall of a library building in the square known as Rynkova in his time, where the Poles executed the champion of Orthodoxy, protector of the poor and disadvantaged, poet and patriot of Ukraine in 1702. How the monument will look and where it will stand has not been decided yet, so the city council has placed a call for proposals on these issues.

Bratkovsky commemoration initiators believe that the city should have a monument to a man who remained faithful to his ideals even in mortal danger, and we are, unfortunately, less than well informed about the people who might actually live peacefully and prosperously, minding their own business and engaging in creative pursuits. However, they could not help but worry about the fate of their native land, mother tongue and culture. Lutsk wants its modern citizens to be just like that, and they have a good model to follow.
