Semerenko’s incredible sports character

Ukrainian biathlete Valentyna Semerenko came first in the second round of World Cup in France (December 15, 2013), reports noc-ukr.org. One of the Semerenko sisters has added a gold medal to the previous bronze one, thus going down into Ukrainian sports history.

On home stretch, she demonstrated an incredible will for victory, getting ahead of the contender behind her, Russia’s Irina Starykh, making further chase practically impossible. Norway’s Tiril Eckhoff came third. Serhii Bubka, President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, greeted the winner and praised the national team’s coaches, wishing them the best of success while training for the Sochi Olympics.
