An exhibition dedicated to Kyiv Euromaidan opens in Berlin

A photo exhibition by Yevhenia Bielorusets “Euromaidan. Occupied Spaces” is open from January 31 till February 20 at the OKK Gallery (Das Organ Kritischer Kunst). A discussion dedicated to Ukrainian protests with participation of social philosopher Kyrylo Tkachenko and founder of the OKK Gallery Pablo Hermann will be held on February 1.

The exhibition “Euromaidan. Occupied Spaces” tells about the first weeks of the protest movement in Kyiv and about the protesters, who lived in the seized administrative buildings and spent whole days out in the cold since early December, patiently waiting for their demands to be heard. During the nights, they were attacked by special police units.

The exhibition in Berlin is a gesture of solidarity with the protesters.

“Now, a lot of European media are talking about acts of violence from the protesters. But it is obvious that the constantly revealing authoritarian violence on the part of the state is the most horrible, merciless, and senseless phenomenon. The faces of peaceful protesters are captured on my photos, located in the protected space of a Berlin gallery. We see them in the moments of rest, the moments of waiting,” Bielorusets emphasized.
