A survey “Why I read the newspaper Den” was recently held at the Lesia Ukrainka Eastern European National University. Not only have Lutsk and Den been many-year partners, but they also have been fruitfully cooperating. There are always inquisitive readers in the city, and even people from the Volyn raions come to the Den’s Photo Exhibit. This is a real culture event for the region. Namely this university launched the book Ukraine Incognita, the first one in a whole library of publications of daily all-Ukrainian newspaper, currently present in all school libraries, and the libraries of secondary and higher educational establishments in Lutsk, let alone the raion libraries, and of course home book collections of the residents of Volyn. People buy the publications, understanding that they should know Ukrainian history, which they had not studied well-timely, to avoid forgetfulness in the future and prevent any events like the ones that have been taking place in the east of our country for the two years.

The university staff says that without doubt Den is one of the most popular newspapers in Ukraine. In particular, Tetiana YATSECHKO-BLAZHENKO, deputy dean of the history department, notes, “With every day the pace of life of an ordinary resident of the city gets faster, and little time is left to leaf through a favorite newspaper or magazine. I for one cannot refuse from starting my morning with the newspaper Den and aromatic coffee. ‘Ukraine Incognita’ is one of my favorite columns, because I am a historian by profession. A certain formula of success has been laid in the information product presented by the newspaper Den for its readers, and it can be explained in three words: interesting, professional, and accessible. Clearly, behind this professionalism stand the titanic work of the staff and the editor-in-chief of the newspaper. Not only is Den the leader of the Ukrainian press, but also a national brand which is known far beyond our state, as one promoting Ukraine, its history, and culture among the English-speaking readers of the entire world.”

Anna LEVCHUK, pro-rector on scientific-pedagogical work, the questions of EU integrations and work with the students of Lesia Ukrainka Eastern European National University, says, “Larysa Ivshyna in a very apt way outlines the role of universities, calling them the educational districts. A classical university should undertake not only educational functions, but also the responsibility for the intellectual preparation of youth, development of culture of the region, stimulate most various studies and explorations, and at the same time show the best examples of enlightenment work in the country. The annual international photo exhibit of the newspaper Den is such an example. This is a present made by the editors of the newspaper Den to the university, the city, the country, and future generations. This is a hint where to look. Advice how to act. For the Eastern European National University the launch of the Den-2015 Photo Exhibit is a symbolical event, a tradition we wait for every year, this is a meeting with Ms. Ivshyna, thus tens of interesting ideas, projects, in which our students and employees will be taking part during the year. We are anticipating the new book publications of the newspaper.”

The launch of the Den’s photo exhibit and readers’ conference dedicated to Den’s new publications will take place on April 8 at the library of the Lesia Ukrainka Eastern European National University.

And on April 7 at 3 p.m. at the assembly hall of the university a session of the Academic Council will take place, where the diploma of honorary professor of the university will be bestowed on Den/The Day’s editor-in-chief and many-year member of the Monitoring Council of the higher educational establishment Larysa Ivshyna.
