The idea to publish a prayerbook for the blind and visually impaired Ukrainians originated with the Synodal Department of Social Service and Charity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kyiv Patriarchate) (UOC-KP), department of charity and social service of the Volyn Eparchy of the UOC-KP, and the Volyn Regional Branch of the All-Ukrainian Visually Impaired Youth NGO “Successful Action Generation.”

His Holiness Patriarch Filaret blessed this social project. It will start with a fundraiser, aiming to cover costs of printing 300 copies of the prayerbook. This will be the first Ukrainian-language prayerbook in Braille to be published in Ukraine. The total funding requirement for the implementation of this idea is 58,380 hryvnias (194.6 hryvnias per copy). Upon printing, the prayerbooks will be donated to libraries for the blind throughout Ukraine and residential care homes in Volyn oblast.
