“Warriors. The history of Ukrainian army”

40 schools in Volyn are going to receive patriotic poster sets
26 May, 11:51

The posters, which were distributed to military units through the Ministry of Defense, had been printed as a project by Ukrainian Institute of National Memory. According to Lesia Bondaruk, a representative of the Institute in Volyn, there have remained some of the posters, and they will be sent to local schools with the support of Volyn Oblast State Administration.

“History and military museums at schools need support in updating their exhibits,” says Bondaruk. “Every activity to support them only comes from the enthusiasm and good will of teachers, at the expense of their own money and free time. Thus, the exhibits are often not only outdated, but lacking complete historical information and basic design. Through the ‘Warriors’ project we would like to initiate a tradition of dialog and cooperation with school museums. Our students are a generation that is comfortable online but neglectful to traditional museums. And we should do everything possible to make the museums as interesting to them as the internet.”

Each set consists of 24 posters about the history of Ukrainian army from Kyivan Rus’ to the present. The posters in A1 format depict soldiers clad in Ukrainian military uniforms and carrying weapons according to the time period. The pictures, which were created by famous Ukrainian photographer Anna Senik, are accompanied by information on military units of the time. A set also contains pamphlets, which contain information about the types of military organization, numbers of armies and weapons, methods of military art, and the most significant battles for every period.
