Dalia!
Lithuania’s president wins the hearts of Ukrainians
The past week has seen a number of foreign visits to Ukraine. In particular, General Philip Breedlove, Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, who visited this country for the first time, said the Ukrainians were not alone on the way to freedom. The US general also told about what the command was doing to increase the Ukrainian army’s defense capability. Last week US Vice President Joseph Biden paid a third visit to Kyiv this year. He urged the Russian leader to fulfill his pledge to observe the Minsk Accords.
And basically only the Lithuanian president Dalia Grybauskaite turned out to be the “man” among all European leaders, having openly called the Russian Federation a terrorist state whose activity threatens entire Europe.
“Ukraine is fighting for peace in the whole Europe today, for all of us. If the terrorist state, which carries out aggression against its neighbor, is not stopped, aggression may spread through Europe,” Grybauskaite said in an interview to the Latvian television and radio broadcast company LRT.
At the same time, she emphasized that Ukraine needs the support of the international community. “Political, business, humanitarian, and military support is needed, so this country and its residents, who chose the path of democracy, who wished to rule their country themselves, who chose the direction their country should move in, that is, towards Europe, could do this without pressure, without military intervention, without aggression,” the president said.
The leader of Lithuania also noted that Ukraine fights not only military, but economic and informational aggressions unleashed by Russia.
“We all have to clearly tell the incumbent in the Kremlin, the government of the present-day Russia, that such actions will never be tolerated,” Grybauskaite emphasized.
By the way, she was the one who stated that the West forced Poroshenko to agree to the offered truce.
When commenting on results of the G20 meeting in Brisbane, Lithuania’s president said the following: “Such provocations [capturing and keeping an Estonian officer hostage. – Ed.] have been happening not only against the Baltic states, but against all Western allies. Such behavior only opens our Western partners’ eyes more. This lie that we hear every day, the latest meeting of the G20 states showed that everyone is fed up with this lie, and no one believes a single word spoken by the Kremlin leaders.”
She also added that if necessary, the citizens of her country will protect themselves in a way Ukrainians do, since there is a country able to throw aside regulations and laws. She also noted that her country knows this neighbor all too well, since her people had to live under Russian occupation for half a century. “But we will never be occupied again under any circumstances,” the president added.
During the 7th meeting of the council of presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania in Kyiv Grybauskaite said that Lithuania will always support the Ukrainian nation and its choice.
She said in an interview to a Ukrainian TV channel that she supported providing Ukraine with military aid from the European Union. “I think that there must be many initiatives of providing the EU help today, especially when it comes to helping Ukraine. It must be military aid,” said the president of Lithuania, and underlined that this help must come in any form, be it economic or financial.
Larysa IVSHYNA:
“Dalia is the only European politician who reminds of the times of Titans...”
Boris LOSHAKOV:
“I adore this woman!
“It should be noted that Dalia Grybauskaite did not perform a feat or an insolent escapade, but she did a rather simple thing, she spoke the truth. At first that Russia is a terrorist state, since it uses army forces to capture foreign territories, blatantly violating international agreements of long standing. And then she called Putin a coward, since he wages a war in Ukraine but denies it.
“The president of Lithuania let the president of Ukraine know that it is impossible to defeat an enemy if you are feared. And to start with, fear of speaking the truth about him must disappear, and corresponding measures, based on this truth, must be taken.”
