The Ukrainian Museum and the Ukrainian Film Club of Columbia University, in cooperation with the Polish Cultural Institute New York, will soon present The Guardian of the Past, a film about Voznytsky.

The Polish director Malgorzata Potocka shot this 50-minute documentary back in 2004, devoted to the patriarch of Ukrainian museum workers who led the Lviv Art Gallery for 50 years. It was shown in Lviv the same year at the presentation of the Lviv Golden Horseshoe tourist route which includes castles in Olesko, Zolochiv, Pidhirtsi and Svirzh and was promoted by Academician Voznytsky, of blessed memory, throughout his life (1926-2012).

The film was screened in Ukraine one more time on the opening day of Kinolitopys Kyiv International Documentary Film Festival in 2006. It will now reach the American audience, too, being shown in New York and Chicago on February 19, and in Massachusetts on February 23.
