Gerard Depardieu plans to present a concert in the occupied part of the Donbas, that is, at the Solovianenko Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theater. The so-called Donetsk People’s Republic’s “Ministry of Culture” plans to lure people to the event with free tickets. Depardieu has repeatedly engaged in eccentric and controversial actions. For example, he renounced his French nationality and became a Russian citizen in 2013, with Vladimir Putin himself handing the actor his new passport. Such activities on the Frenchman’s part could not stay unanswered. For instance, they are reflected in a work by cartoonists participating in the International Political Cartoon Exhibition which has recently opened in Kontraktova Square of Kyiv. A cartoon shows a caricatured Depardieu with inscription besides which reads “La Putin Vodka.”
