A white Angel, about the size of a ten-year-old boy, looks over Kyiv, with his feet playfully dangling from the balcony of the Taras Shevchenko National Museum. This interesting piece of art, a European symbol of peace and goodness, has been recently donated to the city by the Lithuanian Embassy in Ukraine.

Marius Yanukonis, the Ambassador, explained: “Ukraine needs support at this difficult time. In order to cheer residents of Kyiv and guests of the city, the Lithuanian embassy decided to present this Angel of Kindness to Ukrainians.”

Lithuanian sculptor Vaidas Ramoska became the author of the project. He creates white angels and sends them around the world. About 70 sculptures have been already settled in Vilnius, Warsaw, Stockholm, Tallinn, Dublin, Ljubljana, Riga, Minsk, Milan, Moscow and even Chinese Guangzhou.

The Angel of Kindness is a temporary art object; the idea of the project is that the sculpture is being established only for a while. It is made of fragile and short-lived material, which has symbolic importance. The angels are creatures of the air, and they cannot remain on earth in their physical form for a long time – as their entire light and kindness are being given to people.
