Danylo Saienko wins bronze

Danylo SAIENKO, a pianist originally from Lviv, now resident of Hamburg, Germany, has won the third prize in Brescia Classica International Piano Competition, Italy. The winner is Hoyel Lee from South Korea, Belgian Yannick van de Velde holds the second prize, reports i-pro.kiev.ua.

On his Facebook page Saienko, student of the Lviv National Music Academy with Professor Joszef Ormeny, placed a video recorded on his way to the airport. He described the competition: “A total of 73 pianists from 23 countries took part in it, 4 of them were from Ukraine. There was no live broadcasting on the internet. The competition was organized in two rounds, and I was able to surpass many musicians and become third, which makes me really proud.”

The young talent was born in Lviv in 1991. There he studied piano at the Krushelnytska Specialized Secondary Music School with Yuri Moisiak. As a student, he frequently performed with a symphony orchestra and took part in the following competitions and festivals: “New Names” (Kyiv, 2000), International Competition for Junior Performers (Vorzel, 2003), “Golden Rose” – a competition for young composers (Lviv, 2004), “Khortytsia Chords” (Zaporizhia, 2005), “Living Music” (Kyiv, 2006), Heinrich Neuhaus Ukrainian National Competition (Kirovohrad [currently Kropyvnytskyi. – Ed.], 2008). In 2010 he received the Second Prize for the senior category in the First Ukrainian National Frederic Chopin Piano Competition. Saienko also holds the honorary fourth prize of the International Lysenko Piano Competition (Kyiv, 2012), in 2015 he won the international piano competition in Barcelona, and his most recent victory was in Italy. Saienko, a bright representative of the Ukrainian piano school, showed once again that our country has a powerful artistic potential, with traditions being picked up by talented young musicians whose names will soon acquire an international ring.
