Maudits Sonnants present a street show in Kyiv’s Sophia Square

The honorable right to open the ninth festival of arts “French Spring” was granted to the famous company Transe express. It presented a fabulous street show called Maudits Sonnants. This famous French team astonishes with its mastery, in which acrobatics, clownery, and music mastery of the actors closely intertwine. Those who attened the event in Sophia Square on April 4 will long remember the whole range of feelings produced by the Sonnants (specifically the 17-meter-high merry-go-round with a star-like framework, which lifted 26 musicians, playing various instruments, up to the sky), whereas the rotation of the construction created a wonderful music chime, to which thousands of Kyivites and guests of our capital were listening with bated breath.

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to Ukraine Alain Remy admitted that during the festival every guest would be able find an event to his/her own taste: street performances, theater productions, classic music concerts, film screenings, vernissages, circus shows, roundtables, literary meetings, and debate.

Incidentally, the performances will be mostly free of charge, or the tickets will be sold at lowest price. The ambassdor also admitted that the festival’s main goal is to “unite cultures, discover new things, and establish culture contacts.”

It will be reminded that this year’s French Spring will be held in six cities of Ukraine (besides Kyiv, the residents of Kharkiv, Lviv, Odesa, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk will see an interesting program of the forum). On April 27 in the Spivoche Field (Pechersk Landscape Park of Kyiv) the band Paris Combo will give a concert of music beyond genres: from jazz to swing to waltz and latin music beats to Gypsy melodies combined with modern texts. The performance will be the final event of the festival.
