1910: The first issue of Ukrainsky holos comes off the presses in Canada.
1917: The Central Rada is formed in Kyiv as a representative body of the local Ukrainian civic organizations.
1917: The Pavlo Polubotko Ukrainian Military Club is founded in Kyiv. It is the first organization that has played a major role in the development of the Ukrainian military movement.
1917: Tsarist Russia’s authorities start being liquidated in Ukraine.
1943: Soviet troops once again retreat from Kharkiv after pitched battles.
1962: The Soviet Union launches a comprehensive space exploration program using rockets and the Kosmos Sputnik series of satellites.
