1902: Date of birth of Antin Rudnytsky, Ukrainian composer, conductor, pianist, professor of music, and music critic.

1918: The Central Rada in Kyiv passes a bill on an eight-hour workday.

1924: The Politburo of the Central Committee of the Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) adopts the decree “On Admittance of Factory Workers to the Party.”

1927: The Council/Soviet of People’s Commissars (Sovnarkom) of the USSR adopts a decree on the construction of the Dnipro Hydropower Station (Dniprohes).

1929: The Institute of Ukrainian Studies is established in Warsaw.

1943: The State Defense Committee in Moscow adopts a decree on emergency measures aimed at aiding ferrous metallurgy. 1995: Ukraine and the Russian Fe­deration initial a friendship-cooperation-partnership agreement in Kyiv.
