Demand grows for quality photo

The visitors can see about 50 works of the XII International photo competition winners today in the art gallery of the NPLU.

The National Parliamentary Library of Ukraine became the final destination of the long-lasting tour of the Den-2010 photo exhibit all across Ukraine. This year it included Chernivtsi, Lutsk, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Nizhyn, Donetsk, and Olhopil. Neither the route, nor the final point was a random choice. The Day is always opened for people who are interested. That is why the newspaper responded to the invitation of Tamara Vylehzhanina, general director of NPLU and Honored Worker of Culture. According to her, since the library visitors and employees have been watching our newspaper for many years and “always wait for the new issue, which they read in the reading halls.” As Olena POHONETS, head of the socio-cultural activity department, said the employees attend The Day’s exhibits and exchange impressions afterwards. Incidentally, just like The Day celebrates its anniversary this year, the Parliamentary Library ce-lebrates its 145th anniversary.

The photo exhibit in the Library’s art gallery will become a part of the common project dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Ukrainian Independence. The library is preparing the book exhibit, which will take place at the same time as the photo exhibit. Such approach of the Library management is not accidental, as, according to them, The Day’s photo exhibit shows the life of modern Ukraine in so many ways.

“We constantly follow The Day and we anxiously expect annual photo exhibits. That is why, while preparing the book exposition for the 20th year of Independence, we wanted this subject to be illustrated with the wonderful works from your photo exhibit,” Pohonets, head of the sociocultural activity department at the National Parliamentary Library of Ukraine, told, “at the same time, we wanted to show our library readers, who are particularly interested in The Day, the best photos. Very often the readers wait in line for the new issue of the newspaper.”

We suppose that The Day plays an extremely important role – it allows watching the Ukrainian state development, understanding who we are, our children and future. We had so much pleasure while installing theme sections for the exhibit and looking through the works of this year. That is why we are grateful to The Day for understanding and support from the editorial. Despite the fact that photo exhibitions usually take place at larger scale, the editorial staff agreed to organize it in a “chamber atmosphere” of the art gallery. We collaborated with the National Union of Photo Artists and we observed a conscious and expected demand for good photos from our visitors. We hope the photo exhibition of The Day will be of particular interest, as all works are totally all-sufficient worlds, which make us.
