19 апреля, 00:00

A thus named exhibit was opened in the literary-memorial Pavlo Tychyna Museum. It describes the creative work of three generations of one family — the artists Oleksandr Saienko (1899-1985), Nina Saienko and Lesia Maydanets-Saienko. A number of works are on display, including Cossack Mamai, Windmill, Geese under the Willow, Meeting Cossack by Oleksandr Saienko, who invented a unique author’s technique of “mosaic incrustation with straw” basing upon folk art, and who was also an outstanding master of tapestry carpets. For more than half a century he worked on a graphic chronicle Ballad about Ukraine, which consists of about 500 works of monumental and decorative art. UNESCO has entered the name of the Ukrainian artist on a list of the world’s prominent cultural figures. His daughter’s, Nina Saienko’s works charm with their beauty. They include tapestry carpets: May Dews, Blue Bird, Silvery melody; and decorative pictures: Forest Rhapsody, Water Flowing from under the Maple, Goats under a Tree, Ornamental Flower. Her works are refined in their coloring, and filled with nature’s symbols and encoded folk beliefs. Lesia Maidanets-Saienko is a successor to the family traditions. She creates her own poetic world, saturated with dreams, philosophical contemplations and fantastic images. Her works include the tapestries: Midsummer Fires, Poplar Trees Live Near Me, Birds Fly South, Spring Evening Glows; and the paintings in batik technique: The Milky Way, Toll, Easter, Dream, Sunflowers. They give the viewers a space saturated with bright harmony of rhythms and colors. The “Family gold” exhibit will be open until May 15.
