1614: Cossack starshyna brass and Polish commissioners sign an agreement curbing Cossack rights and making the registered Cossacks serve as border guard units and live only in Zaporizhia.

1876: Kyiv-based magazine Kyivska starovyna first publishes Hryhorii Skovoroda’s biography.

1939: Polish government in exile is formed in Paris. It later moved to Angers and then to London.

1941: Soviet troops launch operations to defend Moscow and defeat the Wehrmacht’s Center forces in their onslaught on the Soviet capital.

1942: The Young Guard Soviet underground youth resistance group is formed in Nazi-occupied Krasnodon. 1946: Nuremberg Trials begin.

1992: The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registers the Association of 1932-33 Genocidal Famine Researchers of Ukraine.
