An exhibit of designs submitted to a nationwide open competition for the best Holodomor memorial complex recently opened at the National Artists’ Union in Kyiv. The contest was announced by the Kyiv State Administration in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Ministry of Construction, Architecture, and Communal Services. The Holodomor Memorial Complex is slated for construction in the area of the Park of Eternal Glory.
“The aim of the competition is to immortalize and honor the memory of Holodomor victims, to foster a deeper understanding of our historical past, and to focus society’s attention on the tragic pages of Ukrainian history,” reads the press release issued by the organizers, as reported by Interfax Ukraine.
The competition, which began on Feb. 1 and ended on March 30, is financed by the Kyiv City State Administration. Three winners will receive prizes.
