Igor Ivanov to Visit Kyiv

Russian Foreign Minister Ivanov has confirmed that on October 30 he will meet his Ukrainian counterpart, Kostiantyn Hryshchenko, in Kyiv to discuss differences over the construction of a Russian dam in the Kerch Strait. “We have agreed with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister to discuss on October 30 all the differences over the situation in the Kerch Strait,” Minister Ivanov stressed, adding that “We intend to find a solution that would reflect the interests of both Ukraine and Russia. Since we share this strait, we should cooperate on this issue, and not compete.” Speaking in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry Press Service Chief Markiyan Lubkivsky confirmed the date for the ministers’ meeting as October 30. According to him, Minister Ivanov plans a one-day working visit in keeping with the arrangements made during Minister Hryshchenko’s recent visit to Moscow.
