Entertainment Means Better Life
The VIII International Entertainment Industry Exhibition organized by Ukraine’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry opened in the Sports Palace on September 10. Over a hundred leading European producers from Hungary, Italy, England, Germany, and Yugoslavia as well as the USA and Australia displayed equipment for casinos and night clubs, billiards, bowling, golf and accessories, slot-machines, and children’s game machines.
As Chamber of Commerce Vice President Valery Biely put it, an increase in the number of participants is “a sign that Ukrainians’ quality of life has much improved... When Ukraine was experiencing an economic slump, the number of firms participating in the exhibition was down by 30-40%. The management of enterprises producing equipment for the entertainment industry had been put off by the lack of prospects for the development of this business in Ukraine,” he said. Mr. Biely believes the fact that “Ukrainians have stopped living from hand to mouth and started paying attention to the entertainment industry” is without doubt a manifestation of economic growth.
Incidentally, nearly half of participating producers are Ukrainian enterprises, which testifies to the fact that Ukrainian entrepreneurs strive to occupy this promising market niche.
