Ukraine Exports Champaign And More

Over the past 11 months Ukraine’s champagne exports have exceeded last year’s statistic, totaling 1,732,000 liters, Interfax Ukraine was informed by the Ukrsadvynprom Ukrainian Committee for Gardening, Viticulture, and Wine-making. In 1998, it was 1,643,000 liters. Cognac exports in January-November reached 28,000 liters and that of wines and spirits 8000 liters. In 1998, according Volodymyr Voyevodin, head of Ukrsadvynprom, Ukraine supplied these products to 12 Western and post- Soviet/socialist countries, Russia being the main importer (60%), followed by Germany (30%). In eleven months, however, exports of grape wines dropped by 6,386,000 liters compared to 1998, totaling 1,085,000 liters.
