30 ноября, 00:00

December 3 to 10, Kyiv’s Lavra Gallery will host the second arts festival called Show of the Passing Century. The Culture and Universe 2000 NGO is acting as the key organizer of this event.

“The purpose of this action is to make a synthesis of the arts, which will create a festive atmosphere and help the onlooker to better understand the world of floral design, fashion, the potentialities of the light, choreography, classical music, and even jewelry. The program has been named the Show of the Passing Century not without reason, because we will attempt, even if subjectively, to gather and show within one week the best works pertaining to various genres currently represented in Ukraine,” said Culture and Universe-2000 executive director Iryna Slobodianiuk.

For a week, the Lavra’s walls will be decorated with Dmytro Kavsan’s paintings. He participated in the past festival as a peer of such masters as Viktoriya Haidurova, Ivan Kyrychenko, Volodymyr Kleimionov, Oksana Kyrpenko, Pavlo Bilyk, and others.

On the first day of the show, well-known Russian florist Stakh Zubov will give a master class for all comers. As the material for his work he will use 35 sorts of selected Ecuador roses which will be delivered to Ukraine by plane before the event. The Arts Festival will be officially opened on December 4. The guests will be presented the works of young choreographer Yuliya Rusanova, a graduate of the Academy of Dance. The choreographic etudes Lilacs’ Whisper, Southern Country’s Eternal Song, My Autumnal Someone, and Girl with Eyes of Death could previously be seen at the Serge Lifar International Competition. Some special words should be said about My Autumnal Someone etude, based on the tragedy of two strong Ukrainian women, Lesia Ukrayinka and Olha Kobylianska, and the story about their unrequited love and lost dreams. The choreography of this performance is a subtle instrumentation of Lesia Ukrayinka’s lyrics. The combination of rhythms and lines, flavored with the stylistic nuances of Ukrainian artistic traditions was set to music by Roman Hrinkiv.

The concert program will be followed by the Children’s Percussion Instruments Band with soloist Natalia Zabolotska (soprano).

The daytime exhibition will be open to all comers, while the night one to specially invited guests who will be offered floral art improvisations, a Rito Fashion House mini-show, demonstration of modern jewelry, and a diamond collection. Near the end, a charity auction will be held where paintings, gems, and decorations will be offered. The program will be concluded by a classical music concert accompanied by a light show, which will smoothly pass into a grand party for Sagittariuses.
