Ukrainian swimmer Denis Sylantiev, who represents the Zaporizhzhia-based
Motor-Sich sports club, has scored two wins at the Trofeu Brasil tournament,
now underway in Rio de Janeiro. In the men's 100 and 200 meters, he twice
overtook his constant nemesis James Hickman from Great Britain. Denis's
advantage was more than impressive: he finished in the 100 meters 50 seconds
ahead the Englishman, and had an almost 2-second edge on his rival in the
longer distance. At the shortest distance (50 m), Denis only lost 0.03
seconds to Brazilian sprinter Fernando Scherer, The Day's Serhiy
MAKHUN reports.
