NEWS IN BRIEF

The Ukrainian super heavyweight seems to be in excellent shape to face a major challenge in a European champion's duel scheduled for July 17.
Who will be his adversary? Volodymyr's promoter Klaus Kohl says it could be the title holder, Germany's Axel Schultz who lost to Volodymyr's older brother Vitaly last year by avoiding a bout, for which he was stripped of the championship title. Among other possibilities experts point to two British boxers, although the name will be announced at a latter date.

After beating Ukraine's Army Club (4:0) Dynamo actually secured victory in the Ukrainian championship four games prior to its end.
Only recently, in the middle of the season, no one could precisely predict
such an outcome. Dynamo's number one rival, Donetsk Shakhtar, was all set
to block their ascent to the throne. After the first round Dynamo was only
three points ahead, but Shakhtar's failure in the second one dotted the
i's; better luck next time. Maybe next year Anatoly Byshovets's coaching
will have an effect. Or maybe something else will happen, thinks The
Day's Kyrylo STADNYCHENKO.
