Let us remind that the “Kings of the Dance” project has been gathering full houses across the world for a few years now. The audience enjoys the opportunity to see five best contemporary dancers from different countries on one stage. Most of the numbers of the program have been created specifically for the “kings.”

This international project was initiated by two famous dancers, Ethan Stiefel and Angel Corella, and first produced by Sergei Danilyan in February, 2006. The best contemporary ballet artists participated in it.

Last October, Ukrainian spectators had an opportunity to appreciate the high-level performance of the “kings,” and now the stars are here again.

Marcelo Gomes (the American Ballet Theater), Guillaume Cote (the National Ballet of Canada), Denys Matviienko (the National Opera of Ukraine), Ivan Vasiliev and Leonid Sarafanov (the Mikhailovsky Theater, Russia) will perform in Kyiv. The most popular numbers created over the six years of the show’s existence will be performed.

The composition FOR 4 will open the night (music by Franz Schubert, choreography by Christopher Wheeldon), performed by Sarafanov, Matviienko, Vasiliev, and Cote.

The audience will also see Labyrinth of Solitude (music by Tomaso Antonio Vitali, choreography by Patrick De Bana), a solo number by Vasiliev. The latter is a brilliant representative of Dnipropetrovsk, Minsk, Moscow, and New York ballet schools. The audience will not be left indifferent to the breathtaking performance by Matviienko, a leading Kyiv dancer, currently director of the National Opera of Ukraine ballet company. He will perform Dance of the Blessed Spirits (music by Christoph Gluck, choreography by Sir Frederick Ashton) and other pieces.

The night will close with the spectacular dance KO’d, jointly produced by Gomes as the choreographer and Cote as the composer, in which they will perform together with Sarafanov, Matviienko, and Vasiliev. The five dancers will demonstrate their virtuosity and ability to dance as a group while performing complicated pas.
