August: Osage County has been released in Ukraine

The film is adaptation of the famed Broadway play. Director John Wells gathered a stellar cast for it. August: Osage County is screen adaptation of the play which became a sensation in theaters of Chicago, London and Broadway, saw 650 performances (!) over two years and won the Pulitzer Prize. Its film version’s producers included George Clooney of Argo fame and founder of Miramax Films Harvey Weinstein, known as producer of Shakespeare in Love, the press service of Arthouse Traffic reports.
A family tragicomedy plays out in a stuffy rural house in the middle of Oklahoma as three adult daughters return to their native home after their father disappears. Their mother, who is suffering from cancer and addiction to narcotics, provokes revival of old and start of new family tragedies. By the way, Meryl Streep’s accolades for the role include a whole dozen nominations for prestigious film awards, including the Golden Globe and Academy Awards in the Best Actress category.
Julia Roberts, who played the eldest daughter, is also nominated for the Academy Awards as Best Supporting Actress, as well as the Golden Globe and the British film award BAFTA. Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers, From Dusk till Dawn), Chris Cooper (Adaptation, The Bourne Identity, The Patriot), Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine), Dermot Mulroney (Jobs, Zodiac) and British actors Ewan McGregor (Trainspotting, Star Wars) and Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, Frankenstein) make up the rest of the cast.
