1848: An armed rebellion in Lviv is suppressed by Austrian authorities.
1939: The Supreme Soviet of the USSR passes the bill annexing Western Ukraine to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
1941: Soviet troops retreat from Simferopol after pitched battles with the Wehrmacht.
