At an international competition held in a Parisian suburban town of Saint-Denis,
Ukrainian Angela Balakhonova set a new European record in the pole vault
- 4 meters 55 centimeters. The athlete from Kyiv topped her previous personal
best by one centimeter. Valery Aleksandrov, the chief coach of the Ukrainian
National Team, told The Day, that this was only Angela's second
this season. We are happy to note that she has systematically improved
her results, and according to her trainers will show results in the range
of 460-465 centimeters by the world championship in Seville.
Incidentally, the winners of the meet also include two other Ukrainians,
who have shown excellent time for 100 and 400 meters race, Zhanna Pintusevych
(10.97) and Tetiana Tereshchuk (53.47), respectively.
