1857: Moscow’s Post Office issues Russia’s first postage stamps.
1873: The Taras Shevchenko Literary Society is founded in Lviv, to be reorganized as Taras Shevchenko Scholarly Society in 1882.
1917: Ukraine’s first banknotes are issued.
1939: Lviv’s State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater is founded.
1993: A general CIS collaboration agreement is signed in Ashgabat [capital city of Turkmenistan].
1994: The UN General Assembly adopts a resolution instituting the White Helmets, an international organization geared to provide quick and efficient aid in cases of natural or man-made disasters and socio-economic crises, employing volunteer work and managing international financial support.
1998: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopts the Constitution of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea.
