A big scarf for little orphans

21 октября, 00:00

Donetsk – A public action took place in Donetsk, entitled “Give Some Warmth to a Kid.” The activists of the charitable foundation Krokha (Russian for “baby”) plaited several hundred woolen scarves into one giant superscarf. The scarves were knitted and collected by the citizens for orphans. Similar actions had taken place in Kyiv and Odesa before the beginning of the cold season, and now the mining capital followed suit. First a charitable fair was held on a boulevard in the downtown, where traditional handicrafts were sold to raise money for children from orphanages. Then, after the superscarf was measured to make an entry in the book of records (its length was more than 300 meters), the symbolical item was dismantled, and its constituents sent to various children’s homes, of which there are 81 in Donetsk oblast alone.
