Our pysanka in Germany

Recently an exhibit named “The Art of the Ukrainian Pysanka” has opened at the Open Air Museum in the town of Lindlar near Cologne, Germany. It features nearly 700 pysankas (painted Easter eggs) from various regions of Ukraine that have been provided by the Yosafat Kobrynsky Kolomyia National Museum of Traditional Hutsul and Pokuttia Art, as well as by the Museum of Pysanka Painting, reports Radio Liberty. It is noteworthy that the display includes some pysankas dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries.
The German public will also be able to see the works of modern traditional art by the masters from the Ivano-Frankivsk region, Bukovyna, and the Transcarpathian region, i.e., the areas traditionally populated by the Hutsuls. The exhibit was arranged on initiative of the Ukrainian House of Duesseldorf and the Open Air Museum.
