<I>The Day</I> prizewinner’s solo debut

The first solo exhibit of Leonid Shevchuk, one of Ukraine’s best regional photographers and member of the National Union of Ukrainian Journalists, has opened in Zhytomyr.

More than 60 of Shevchuk’s best works are on display. Among the photos are topical on-the-spot shots, portraits of pop stars and well- known politicians, and landscapes. The exhibit also includes many photographs that have been published in our newspaper.

“My best professional memories are connected with The Day,” the celebrity admitted. “I am a regular participant in international photo competitions organized by this newspaper. In 2003 I was even awarded second prize for my photo ‘Without a Horse’.” In addition to Shevchuk’s photographs, the exhibit also features the works of his pupils, who graduated from a local children’s photo studio.
