April 16: 1936. A mass political action of local workers began in Lviv against the Polish government.

1991. The Tenth (and first independent) Congress of Writers of Ukraine began in Kyiv.

April 17: 1917. A conference of the Ukrainian Social Democratic Workers Party was held in Kyiv, electing Volodymyr Vynnychenko its head.

1924. The All-Ukrainian Central Executive Committee passed a decision On Fighting Child Homelessness.

April 18: 1936. The first exhibition of Soviet Ukraine’s architecture was opened.

1961. A demonstration of believers took place in Kyiv against closing St. Andrew’s Church.

April 19: 1917. The All-Ukrainian National Committee proclaimed Ukraine’s national and territorial autonomy and elected the new Central Rada headed by Mykhailo Hrushevsky.

1945. The Yury Fedkovych Literary Memorial Museum was founded in Chernivtsy.

1990. The Ukrainian Christian Democratic Party was created in Lviv.
