Medvedchuk Elected to Head Social Democrats’ Forum

The head of the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united) Viktor Medvedchuk has been elected the head of the Eastern Europe Forum of Social Democrats. As the SDPU(o) press service informed UNIAN, on December 20 the session of the Consultative Council of the Eastern Europe Forum of Social Democrats came to an end in Minsk. Delegates from Social Democratic parties of Azerbaijan, Belarus (Narodna Hromada Belarus Social Democratic Party, the Labor Party, and Nadiya Belarus Women’s Party), Armenia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, and Russia (the Social Democratic Party of Russia, the Social Democratic Party of Russia {united}, and New Left Movement) were present at the forum. Ukraine was represented by the SDPU(o) delegation headed by Viktor Medvedchuk. The participants shared information on the present condition of the Social Democratic movement and political situations in their states, accepted new forum members, and approved a number of statements on urgent problems of Social Democracy. The members of the meeting elected the Ukrainian United Social Democrat leader Viktor Medvedchuk the forum’s new head.
