IMF to Solve the “Ukrainian Problem” Later in March?
First Deputy Minister of the Economy Viktor Kalnyk is convinced that the next International Monetary Fund mission will arrive in Kyiv at the end of March and the Ukrainian government will manage “work successfully” to have the EFF funding resumed. “I am sure we’ll be able to come to agreement,” he said, stressing that the IMF mission will visit Ukraine before the IMF Board of Governors convenes to solve the Ukrainian problem. What will be discussed with the IMF mission in March, according to Mr. Kalnyk, are four key problems: lifting the export duty on sunflower seeds, finalizing the procedure of the second stage of the audit of Naftohaz Ukrayiny (Oil & Gas of Ukraine), placing privatization information on the State Property Fund’s Internet site, and working out a medium- term strategy for the Ukrayina Bank, Interfax-Ukraine reports. Mr. Kalnyk also believes that the mission will want to know the effectiveness of free economic areas and territories under special investment regime.
