Bulgaria Plans to Slap Visa Requirement on Ukrainians
Sofia will impose a visa regime on Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, and Tunisia in the next six months, UNIAN quotes Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nadezhda Mikhailova as saying. According to her, this step follows the decisions of the EU ministers of justice and internal affairs, who have lifted the Schengen restrictions for Bulgarian citizens. Ms. Mikhailova said the government of Bulgaria had considered a group of countries with which Sofia has a visa-free regime but which are listed as risky by the EU. Georgia, Tunisia, Russia, Ukraine, Macedonia, and Yugoslavia have been blacklisted. Given close ties with Ukraine and Russia, Sofia will offer these countries more relaxed visa treatment, which will allow businessmen and students to travel freely.
