Adults Choose a Decent Life for Their Children

Of course, they are right to complain and trying to argue to the contrary would be futile, except for some dubious points. For example, why do we say Mother Ukraine and often use the first part of the appellation derisively? Maybe we should regard our land as both mother (to whom we are forever indebted) and daughter, because her well-being entirely depends on how much effort we exert to that end?

Children prove to live better in countries where parents respect their native land. One does not have to repeat the adage about loving one's son or daughter, for those that do need not hear it to know it. And those that do not need not hear it, because no words, spoken or printed,. will make them change their attitude.

N.B.: Prosecutorial office investigations revealed over 30,000 transgressions involving children's rights, The Day was told  by Natalia Sherstova Senior Legal Chancellor, head of the Juvenile Delinquency Oversight Department of the General Prosecutor's Office. Basically, these transgressions related to the right to education, also in terms of restructuring children's institutions, health care, the right to work, cases involving militia juvenile divisions, but mostly focusing on guardianship and custody.

Random checks made in seven oblasts, concerning children's R&R facilities, resulted in over 50 criminal cases and instances of corruption. All told, 3,640 cases were challenged as unlawful by the prosecutor last year; 412 criminal cases were opened, more than 9,000 bureaucrats served 15,500 reprimands. The Verkhovna Rada will soon hear the childhood protection bill, so maybe its enactment will make the situation better, if only a little, reports The Day's Nina SOTNYK.
