Parliament to Oversee Presidential Elections

A special Verkhovna Rada select commission has begun its work on monitoring
the observance of election laws by government bodies and officials before
and during the presidential elections. Even now many political scientists
are worried that the executive power might rig the returns in favor of
the current President using fake ballots, incorrectly counting the votes,
and bribing members of local electoral commissions. 19 lawmakers, who are
part of the commission representing various parliamentary groups and factions,
will attempt to take measures to identify and prevent such violations.
However, it should be noted that parliamentary commissions of this kind
have been formed many times and none of them has succeeded.
