Popular Movement Closes Ranks

First Popular Movement (Rukh) head Vyacheslav Chornovil excluded Viktor Chaika and Mykhailo Brodsky from the party for ostensibly violating party discipline, then lost its sports potential with Kyiv Dynamo soccer stars Volodymyr Bezsontsov and Serhiy Baltacha. Although the matter was unpleasant, Chornovil does not consider this a loss. "This is a normal process during an election campaign," Chornovil says, and the party has thereby "cleansed itself." But those excluded believe otherwise: "Rukh has lose the people's confidence and stopped being the party in which so much hope was placed."
