Kyiv will Listen to German Radio
Next week radio UTAR will launch a news program prepared by Deutsche Welle radio station. Miodrag Soric, Editor in Chief of the Deutsche Welle Russian service who is taking care of introducing the Ukrainian version told The Day reporter Natalia Vikulina that the duration of Ukrainian programs will be quite short so far. However, apparently Ukrainian mass media bosses are interested in this program. In particular, Information Minister Zinovy Kulyk supports it. DW journalists believe that in a few months they will increase their air-time, to reach ultimately the BBC Ukrainian Service level. Ukrainian listeners will be able soon to learn German with DW help, and the most eager of them even will get textbooks. Although, it is still unknown which radio station will broadcast German lessons.
