The voice of the world

More than a hundred of works from 45 countries were submitted after 5 days since the beginning of the action announced by the Youth Union of Designers of Ukraine “Varto.” Works were sent from such countries as Australia, Argentina, Great Britain, Germany, Israel, Italy, Macedonia, Russia, the United States, France, Japan, and others.

“What is happening in the country now is part of an information war. A poster, on the other hand, is a unique genre, because it carries most concentrated visual information,” said Oksana Shevchenko, media coordinator of the action “The Voice of Peace.” “All presented works were created by professionals, we were surprised that so many artists from all over the world responded to our initiative. There were no doubts as for the place of the exhibition. It had to be a historic place for the country, Khreshchatyk Street.”

“This is an international action against the war,” adds one of the masterminds of the event Anna MEKHEIEVA. “Designers and artist from all over the world support peace and demonstrate solidarity with Ukraine in their works. Artists created dimensional and accessible images which can reach people’s minds and hearts faster and easier than politicians’ shallow appeals. A poster is a visual image which conveys all of the emotional tension and energy in a few seconds. It cannot leave anyone indifferent.”

According to the organizers, this is the second time that their art action has taken place in Ukraine. The first one was dedicated to the Chornobyl disaster. Unfortunately, the consequences of the conflict escalation today can be as tragic for the world, say the artists.

“The Voice of Peace” was funded by charity donations. The exhibition will last through April 12. After the street exhibition is over, the organizers promise to send the posters in support of Ukraine over the world.
