On November 1, 2011 the opening of the ART KYIV Contemporary Sixth Forum of Modern Art will take place the Mystetsky Arsenal. This year 30 galleries of contemporary art from Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France will pre-sent their displays at the art platform. The organizers assure that this year’s exhibition will continue the traditions of the national art market’s largest project.

Let’s recall that the ART KYIV Contemporary Fifth Forum of Modern Art gathered a record number of participants. The exhibit demonstrated the creative work of more than 200 artists, 80 percent of which were Ukrainians. Not less record-breaking was the number of the last year’s art platform guests. Only on the first day Mystetsky Arsenal was visited by 6,000 people. And during the week, 35,000 of Kyiv citizens and visitors came to see the exhibit.

Apart from the traditional fair program, this year’s ART KYIV Contemporary will present many more special projects.

Particularly, Mystetsky Arsenal will for the first time present a unique retrospective exhibit of six Japanese artists – THE GROUP 1965, which was successfully accepted in the Dusseldorf Museum of Modern Art. The exposition will consist of completely different in style and manner of expression pictorial, photographic and video works, and also installation Nagoya, which recreates the model of Japanese public housing. According to the exhibit program, the Japanese artists will present a series of performances, lectures and workshops, and also a special karaoke program for children.

Within another special program, which is entitled “East European Resonance,” a famous Po-lish curator Monika Szewczyk and the Polish Institute in Kyiv promised to show the continuation of the “Journey to the East” project, which is executed within the State Program of Poland’s Cultural Presidency in the Council of the European Union. Artists from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Poland, and also Ukrainian artists Anatolii Belov, Alevtiya Kakhidze, Yaroslava Maria Khomenko, Volodymyr Kuznetsov, Stas Voliazlovsky along with the creative group TanzLaboratorium, which became participants of the special program, have explored the key motif that forms connections between people and which is an alternative to authority or economic capital. Such motif, as they state, is the phenomenon of love in all its unexpected artistic manifestations.

The Ukrainian special project will be introduced by the Mystetsky Arsenal curator Oleksandr Soloviov. He will present the special project “Backdoor to the Museum” by a famous artist Illia Chichkan jointly with a young graffitist PSYFOX.

The exhibit will operate for 12 days, from November 2 till 13. The ticket price is 40 hryvnias, the reduced price is 20 hryvnias.
