1659: Hetman Yurko [Yurii] Khmelnytsky of Ukraine and Muscovite envoys sign the Pereiaslav Articles treaty regulating the political and legal status of Cossack Ukraine as part of Muscovy.

1882: Marko Kropyvnytsky’s touring professional theater stages Mykola Lysenko’s Natalka Poltavka in Yelysavethrad (currently: Kirovohrad).

1944: Troops of the Fourth Ukrainian Front clear Uzhhorod of the Wehrmacht in the course of the Carpathians-Uzhhorod offensive.

1949: The byproduct coke plant in Zhdanov (currently: Mariupol) starts manufacturing after being rebuilt and re-equipped.

1991: An agreement on the guidelines in the intergovernmental relations between Ukraine and Kazakhstan is signed in Tashkent.

2006: In Helsinki, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Borys Tarasiuk and Dr. Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Commissioner for External Relations, initial an agreement on simplified visa procedures and re-admission.
